Parks and Wildlife

Cubbon Park

This park is spread in an area of around 300-acres. Experience a dash of fresh breeze away from the busy city. It’s a great place to plan a small outing with your friends/family for leisure. This park has a plantation of around 6000 trees.

Timings for the visit are usually from morning till evening and charges no fees for entry.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden

This garden dates back to the 17th century when Hyder Ali (ruler of Mysore at that time) initiated its development for the royal family. However, with the passage of time it has seen major expansion and development carried out by British and other rulers.

It is liked by locals as it gives a relief from the regular city life.

Timings for the visit are usually from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and charges 10/- as an entry fee.

Bannerghatta National Park

This national park is located on the outskirts of Bangalore and is home for various animals like Elephants, sambar deers, leopards, sloth bears and wild boars. Surely, there must be more when you go there. 

You can visit butterfly park, zoo or even plan a safari. Entry tickets/fees will depend on the variant you choose.

Lumbini Gardens

This park is embedded on the bank of Nagawara lake. It can turn out to be a perfect day for a family as it has various things to offer like rides, amusement park, boating and fountains. 

Entry tickets are based at very nominal rates for adults and kids below 3 years have a free entry. Timings are from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Monuments

Bangalore Palace

This Palace is the famous attraction for many tourists visiting Bangalore. Its architecture is such that it reminds of the queen castles built in France. It houses a large park in front hosting regular international concerts.

Bangalore Fort

This fort is located in Tharagupet area of Bangalore. Beautiful paintings and wall canvases are worth watching out. Kempe Gowda I started the fort’s construction in 1537 and Tipu Sultan improved its architecture in the 18th century.

Bull Temple

It is one of the largest temples of Lord Nandi in the world. This temple is located inside famous Bugle Rock Park and a popular destination among tourists. The statue of Lord Nandi is 15-feet tall and 20-feet wide. 

Museums

The most swarming museums across the city are:

Government Museum

Originated in 1865, it is one of the oldest museums in the country. It attracts several visitors owing to its ancient collection of sculptures, coins, jewellery and heirlooms.

Youn can plan a visit to this museum from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

NIMHANS Brain Museum

It is more than a museum and not at all a regular one. It is a place where brain specimens are collected and preserved for research purposes. It has regularly been doing work related to spreading awareness regarding neurological illnesses among people.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

It is a science park hence, famous among kids and science fanatics. It also houses a sky theatre and organises a sky gazing broadcast every month.

Visvesvaraya Technological Museum

This park is located very near to Cubbon Park so if you plan a visit there you shall also consider going to this Museum. It is a great place for tech lovers and science enthusiasts. This museum has existed since 1962 and has several exhibition halls, 3D theatre and a science park.
