Recipes to make handmade soap at home

Soap With Used Oil

We’ll first show you how to make handmade soap with used oil. One good way to reuse cooking oil is to make soap from it. What will you need, though?

  • 1 litre of used oil that has been strained (to remove impurities)
  • 800 grams of water that was distilled
  • One hundred fifty grams of soda is acidic. When using caustic soda, we must wear gloves (like the ones at unigloves.co.uk) and safety glasses.

If you want to know how to make homemade soap from used oil and caustic soda, read the step-by-step instructions for this recipe: Mix the soda with water slowly (never the other way around). Be careful because the mixture will cause a chemical reaction that can get as hot as 80oC.

You have to let it cool down before slowly pouring the mixture over the oil, which has already been heated to about 40oC. Then, stir it slowly with a wooden paddle or a mixer. Once the combination has a good texture, you pour it into moulds made of silicone or plastic. Cover them with a cloth and some plastic wrap from the kitchen.

The next day, take the containers out of the moulds and let them sit for at least a month to harden. This is called saponification, one way to make soap at home from used oil.

Detergent for your washing machine

This recipe for making homemade soap can also be used to make homemade and environmentally friendly detergent from used oil. As you can see, this liquid is often thrown away because it is dirty and can be used to make useful things for the home, like homemade washing machine soap.

Lavender Soap

This recipe is good if you want to learn how to make soap from natural ingredients. Lavender is a plant that can help you relax and smells excellent. It is perfect for creating soft, scented soap at home. To make it, you will need the following:

  • 210 millilitres of olive oil
  • 30 grams of caustic soda
  • 65 millilitres of distilled water
  • lavender essential oil
  • fresh lavender flowers

The process is the same as when we used oil to make handmade soap. The only difference is that we add about 20 drops of lavender essential oil to the mixture of oil, water, and caustic soda (still hot).

Carrot And Honey Soap

Because carrots and honey are antioxidants and moisturizers, this soap is a great way to clean our skin. To make it, we need the following:

  • 300 millilitres of coconut oil
  • 400 millilitres of olive oil
  • 100 millilitres of almond oil
  • 200 millilitres of the carrot cooking water
  • 100 grams of mashed carrots
  • 110 grams of caustic soda
  • Half a tablespoon of pure honey
  • Ten drops of carrot seed essential oil

First, we mix the carrot puree, the water used to cook the carrots, and the caustic soda (be careful during this step!). After a few minutes, we add coconut oil, olive oil, honey, and a few drops of carrot seed essential oil. Then, we pour the mixture into the moulds and let it set for at least 48 hours.

Vein Soap

Oatmeal is another natural product that has many benefits for the skin, especially when cleaning and scrubbing oily skin. If your skin is like this, you should look for:

  • A bar of neutral soap (about 200 grams)
  • 100 grams of oatmeal
  • Some water

The steps are easy: grate the handmade soap and put water on top. We put it in a water bath to melt it, and once it’s melted, we slowly add the oatmeal. Take the mixture out and pour it into a mould to cool.

Soaps With Aromatic Herbs

If we keep talking about natural soaps, we can also talk about how fragrant herbs make them healthier. For instance, sage and eucalyptus soap work well as pain relievers. To make it, you need to melt a bar of neutral glycerin soap and add a few drops of sage essence and eucalyptus essence. Mix well and put into silicone moulds to cool (to which we can add more drops of stuff).

Also, rosemary soap is good for the flow of blood. We use the same steps as we did for the sage and eucalyptus soap, but this time we add rosemary essential oil and small branches of fresh rosemary. You’ll love the way it smells!

Other than these, a cannabis soap can help with pain, stress and anxiety, and similar other problems. To make this, all you may need is some cannabis as the main ingredient and a rosin press (click here for some instances) to extract the oil. The rest of the steps would be similar to how you make any other soap. To make this smell as good, you can add any fragrance of your choice.

However, if you can’t get natural scents online or in your neighborhood to use for handmade soap, you can also look for small businesses selling such products. They might have used sustainable methods and natural products to manufacture eco soap, which you can get in your preferred scents, ingredients, and fruit flavors. So, this can be a convenient way of getting handmade soap for people who lack the time and resources to make their own.

Soap Is Fruit

Just like we use herbs, carrots, or oats to make soap, we can also use fruits like lemon, coconut, or orange. We use the same method to make handmade soap at home with fragrant herbs. What changes in the type of essence do we add to the mixture to give it a scent, like coconut oil, lemon essence, orange essence, etc.?

For citrus soaps like lemon and orange, the grated skin of the fruit can be added. Fruit soaps like these are great for cleaning the skin and making it feel fresh.

Add colour to your handmade soap at home!

Some liquid soap recipes we give you today will not have any colour. So, if you want to add colour to your dish, infusions are a great (and natural!) way to do it.

Just like what you read! The infusions not only smell good but can also be used as natural dyes. Depending on the type of infusion, you can get different colours, such as:

  • We can use the injection of red bignonia flowers to get a red colour.
  • Calendula or chamomile are yellow flowers.
  • For green, mint, or green tea infusions.
  • For pink, beetroot or rose petals are used.
  • Information of violets makes purple.
  • For the blue cypress, berries were used.

By adding infusions to our mixtures, we can make handmade soaps that are bright and happy. Which one of the choices we’ve given you would you like to start with?
